The German forward Timo Werner has been told by his club president to make a decision on his future.
According to The Mirror the Merseyside team have been patiently monitoring the situation. But Bayern Munich is also believed to harbour an interest in the 23-year-old.
The RB Leipzig forward has a decent goal scoring record, of 61 goals ion 114 appearances for his club. However, his international record is quite sensational, scoring 10 times in 25 outings.
The move to Liverpool would see him partner up with former teammate Naby Keita who made the move to the English Premier League last year.
He has refused to sign a new contract at RB Leipzig. The club is not keen on losing him on a free next year when his contract expires.
Club CEO Oliver Mintzlaff is pushing for the player to sign new terms or leave.
“I can also understand that it is difficult for Timo.”
“But you have to make decisions in life, and Timo’s will be there in a timely manner, we’re convinced.”
“We still want a contract extension.”
Mintzlaff is adamant there are may interested parties in Werner. This may just be talk in an attempt to drive up the price.
Liverpool is on red alert to the situation. While Jurgen Klopp has been very clear that he will not spend big this window.
