Callum Hudson-Odoi has reportedly put an end to doubts over his future by agreeing on a new long-term contract with Chelsea.
With his original deal set to expire next summer, Hudson-Odoi’s Chelsea career seemed in huge doubt amid strong interest from Bayern Munich.
The Bundesliga champions, in fact, pushed hard for a move in January amid a lack of regular opportunities for Hudson-Odoi. It led him to even hand in a transfer request to push through a switch to Germany.
Despite the looming prospect of losing him for nothing, however, Chelsea opted to stand their ground by retaining the 18-year-old.
Since then, Hudson-Odoi has been working on recovering from an Achilles injury he sustained in April. Although it appears he is closing in on a return after featuring for the U-23 team recently.
And now Sky Sports claims that Hudson-Odoi will finally resolve his future in the next 24 hours with a new long-term contract.
This report comes shortly after goalkeeper Willy Caballero teased fans over this possibility by posting a picture of himself and Hudson-Odoi on social media with the caption: “When?”.
The England international, meanwhile, dropped a hint himself last month when discussing his days as a Chelsea ballboy.
He recalled an event at 13 years old, when he pictured celebrating a Samuel Eto’o goal.
“You dream of being a professional as a kid, especially at the club I’ve now been at for so long,” said Hudson-Odoi.
“You think, “Can I become like him or at least get to the top where he is?” and I’m now fulfilling that dream.
“It’s the boyhood club I’ve always loved and played for, so I’ve always felt that that dream is there. Now I just want to carry on and keep going.”
