Antonio Cassano is backing Inter Milan to break the Juventus stranglehold on Serie A and win the Scudetto this season.

In the build-up, to this weekends Milan derby, a player that has represented both teams, has picked the Blue half of the City to be triumphant this season.

Cassano only had a brief career spell at both Milan clubs, playing 39 times for Inter and 40 for AC. He scored nine and eight goals respectively.

But it was at Inter that even in such a short career, his fiery temperament and passion made him a fans favorite.

After Inters appointment of Antonio Conte, and the investment made in the squad, he feels this year is their year. Perhaps domestically and in Europe.

In an iterview with Corriere Della Sera, he said:

“Inter will win the Scudetto.”

“Inter will go through in the Champions League because they’re stronger than Borussia Dortmund.”

For Cassano Italian football is on the up, he continued:

“Napoli and Juve will have no problems. Atalanta also has a good chance, City aside.”

Apparently, though he is a Barcelona fan, he added:

“I really hope it’s Barcelona. I have a passion for Messi, my second son is named Lionel for a reason.”

“He’s the best player in history. He’s like Federer in tennis: there’s Roger and then all the others.”

Cassano also represented his native Italy 39 times.

He feels that the national side need more options, and that Mario Balotelli could be one. If he has a good season.

Cassano said:

“It’ll be enough for Balotelli to have a good season and score a few goals. He’s a good player like the others in the Italy squad.”

“The truth is that from the midfield up, there’s only Chiesa and Insigne.”
