Gary Cahill signs for the Eagles.

According to Sky Sports News, the 33-year-old has opted to stay in London. He opted to join Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace.

It is believed he has signed a two-year contract with the Selhurst Park outfit.

When asked about his options upon his release from Chelsea he said:

“I’m hungry to prolong my career as long as I possibly can.”

“I feel like I’m in great shape and whoever I play for, I’d like to think that I give it 110%.”

“Hopefully that will be good enough for the manager, my team-mates and also the fans.”

He won two Premier League titles and a Champions League during his 7-year spell at Stamford Bridge.

The arrival of Maurizio Sarri saw his playing time decrease dramatically. He made only two appearances all season.

He should see a lot more at Palace. His new manager is depending on his experience.

Roy Hodgson said:

“I’m delighted that Gary has joined us.”

“He’s a fantastic footballer who brings a wealth of international and Premier League experience.”

” I know that he is going to be a valuable asset.”

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish added:

“Gary is an exceptional professional and a fine addition to our squad.”

“We are adding a former England captain and a proven winner at the highest possible level to our ranks.”

“I’m sure that Gary will also provide great leadership.”

Palace has been relatively quiet in the window. The fans were expecting considerably more signings. Given the 55 million they brought in from the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

They have signed striker Jordan Ayew and back-up goalkeeper Stephen Henderson so far.
