Barcelona has a plan and a strategy for the transfer window and there is a serious concern that it’s not working out.

According to reports out ESPN the most crucial part of this summers dealings was the sale of Philippe Coutinho.

There is now a growing concern that this sale is not going to happen. The Brazillian has been touted around all Europe’s major players. There have been no takers.

In fact, there has not been a single offer.

It is thought Barcelona’s hopes hinged on the megabucks of the English premier league. But the truth is there hasn’t even been an inquiry from anyone in the league.

Coutinho arrived from Liverpool for 120 million Euros. They are now prepared to take a substantial loss just to get a deal done.

A return to Liverpool was thought to be a certainty until Jurgen Klopp put a definite no to that proposal.

Klopp said:

“It would be a big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big-money signing and it’s not our year for that.”

van Dijk

Van Dijk says he is not foucusing on Liverpool

Virgil van Dijk dismissed any claims that this year is Liverpool's year and said that he is currently focusing on his next match against Northern Ireland.

“It’s just not possible.”

The Catalonians manager Ernesto Valverde does not see the Brazilian as part of his plans.

He would gladly see the back of Rafinha and Malcom too. While Ousmane Dembele is not a must keep asset either.

The priority is to raise transfer funds. His focus is to bring back Neymar.

There was an attempt to try and strike up a trade deal. Exchanging one Brazilian for the other. PSG was not interested.

Barcelona has already spent big on De Jong and Griezmann.

However, the return of Neymar was always the plan. Funding the deal with the sale of Coutinho was the way it was supposed to happen.

A team with players the manager doesn’t want. Plus a failed transfer strategy doesn’t bode well for a successful season.

Barcelona is concerned.
