Mexico midfielder Hector Herrera has emerged as a surprise transfer target for new Arsenal boss Unai Emery, reports the Daily Mirror
The 28-year-old has been one of the key performers for Juan Carlos Osorio’s side at the World Cup and has since been linked with moves to both Real Madrid and AS Roma.
But, despite the reported interest from other European giants and the expected arrival of Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira, the Portuguese news outlet Correio da Manha has reported that Arsenal intends to go ahead with their interest in Herrera.
The Mexico international has spent the past five years playing for Primeira Liga champions FC Porto, but the Dragões may be willing to let him go this summer for a fee with Herrera having just 12 months left to run on his current deal.
Reports indicate that the Portuguese side will be willing to entertain offers in the region of £15m.
