Mauro Icardi turned down some very good offer in choosing to stay at Inter Milan.
According to Goal.com, those are the words of his wife and agent Wanda Nara.
The one-time Inter captain and number 9, has been one of the talks of the summer transfer window.
After being stripped of the club captaincy, sent to train alone and ultimately banished from the club. It was a certainty that Mauro Icardi was leaving Inter Milan, wasn’t it?
There was interest from Monaco, Napoli, even talk of moves to Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Juventus.
While some were genuine, others were talking from his agent and wife Wanda Nara in an attempt to get out of Milan.
She had made it clear, any move would be for the benefit of both his and her career.
However, the story took a dramatic twist last week, as we brought you here at Ronaldo.com.
Icardi was invited back into the fold by manager Antonio Conte and given the number seven jersey as part of the first-team squad.
It now turns out that the Argentine international never wanted to leave in the first place. According to Nara, he turned don the chance because he wants to play at Inter.
“We have many friends in Naples. It’s true – he has said no to every destination that is not Inter.”
“Everyone has known his choice since the start of the summer and that is the case for any team that has shown interest.”
“In my view, at the end of the day, he will remain at Inter.”
“He doesn’t believe it’s over at Inter.”
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I do know his words when the transfer market opened. He has stayed consistent.”
“There were offers that no player in the world would have turned down, but he said no for Inter.”
Conte has welcomed the player back into the fold and confirmed he has not been a problem at all.
“I have great respect for everyone, but I don’t feel any disturbance.”
“We are working hard, we know full well what approach has been taken with the player, but it is not causing any disturbance for me.”
The future now appears a lot brighter for Mr. and Mrs. Icardi in Milan.
