Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan got the win against Lazio but only just, 1-0.
Inter maintained their 100% record in Serie A with their fifth win out of five.
It was a solitary goal from Danilo D’Ambrosio, that bagged all three points for Conte’s side.
Lazio will regret not taking the opportunities they had to score and even win the game at the San Siro.
The Nerazzurri wanted to keep the perfect start to the Serie A season going.
Staying ahead of Juventus in an attempt to break the stranglehold they have had on the league for the past eight years.
The history books show Lazio have not lost at the San Siro since December of 2016, but that streak was undone tonight.
Lautaro Martinez was rested in favour of Matteo Politano, with Stefano Sensi in a more advanced role, while Stefan Radu missed out after coming down with a fever.
Romelu Lukaku’s little brother Jordan was also on the Lazio treatment table.
Inter were not their usual composed self.
Keeper Handanovic showing moments of madness and rushing off his line seemed to install a little edginess in his teammates.
Lazio had defensive issues of their own. A defensive catastrophe of epic proportions in the 23rd minute, saw them give up the goal.
Jony Rodriguez was stood right next to Danilo D’Ambrosio and paid him absolutely no attention.
D’Ambrosio rose up to head in Cristiano Biraghi’s cross at the back post totally unmarked.
Inter 1- 0 Lazio
The teams then exchanged chances, with Lazio’s Tucu Correa forcing a fine save from Handanovic.
WhileInter’s Lukaku drove a powerful shot wide of the upright.
Correa wasted a fantastic opportunity to even the score for Lazio. Putting the ball over a stranded Handanovic only for the ball to run wide.
Handanovic appeared to have got his craziness out of his system, and proceeded to single-handedly keep his team in the game.
With save after save. Turning away a couple more from Correa, and one from Bastos.
Inzaghi’s introduced Immobile, but it was simply too little too late, as the game appeared to just slip away from Lazio.
Lazio keeper Thomas Strakosha did very little, but what he did do he did well. Making two stunning saves late on from Nicolò Barella and Stefano Sensi.
Final Score: Inter Milan 1 – 0 Lazio.
Lazio will feel hard done by to have not at least got something out of the game.
Antonio Conte will be thinking its another win, and its wins like that when you are not playing well that often win championships.
