Juventus are sweating over the fitness of Douglas Costa and Miralem Pjanic before this week’s big Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.
As Juventus ground out a goalless draw with Fiorentina, not only was there concern about the two points dropped, but also the fact that Costa and Pjanic left the field through injury.
Both players will undergo scans on Monday at the Juventus training facility to determine the severity of their respective injuries.
There has been talk that both players will miss this week Champions League opener against Atletico Madrid. Costa may in fact be out for up to a month.
Manager Maurizio Sarri will not want to see two of his starters missing for such an important game and the Champions League opener against their toughest group rivals.
According to Sky Sports Italia, Brazilian Costa left the field of play in the 7th minute, after feeling muscular discomfort. The problem was then clarified as a right thigh flexor issue.
It is thought that Costa has little to no chance of making the Wednesday night game in Madrid.
The Juventus winger took to social media to explain, with quite a long-term and philosophical outlook.
“The injury doesn’t scratch me”
” Today’s injury did not in the least affect me mentally.”
“The season will be long, the road will be full of holes, but we will be stronger.”
“Of course I imagined a slightly different birthday.”
“But there will be other occasions to celebrate! Thank you all for your messages. I keep you updated and Forza Juve “.

Pjanic, on the other hand, has a slightly more optimistic outlook, but the injury is thought to be a similar one. He left the field of play right before the end of the first half, in the 44th minute.
After receiving a knock, he complained of a tight thigh muscle. He too will be tested at the club facility on Monday.
