Juventus have reportedly tabled an initial offer of around €64m for Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt, who has agreed to join them.
Following months of persistent speculation, De Ligt has allegedly decided to leave Ajax for Juventus this summer.
The 19-year-old defender was a big subject of interest to Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.
But reports recently emerged claiming that De Ligt simply couldn’t refuse Cristiano Ronaldo’s request to join him at Juventus. Therefore, it’s rumoured he’s agreed to a five-year contract worth between €15m to €20m per season.
Now, Sky Sports claim the Bianconeri have sent Ajax an initial offer of €64m for De Ligt. Although it falls way below the Dutch club’s asking price of €71m for their prized asset.
Apparently, Juventus are testing Ajax’s resolve now they know for certain that De Ligt wants to join them this summer. However, they may have to quit the games sooner than expected as PSG are still in the running.
The French champions have allegedly matched Ajax’s asking price and are determined to pull off an upset.

Meanwhile, Juventus are expected to complete the re-signing of fan favourite Gianluigi Buffon soon after he arrived at the J-Medical centre for a medical of Thursday morning.
The Italy legend previously spent a trophy-laden 17 years in Turin, where he made 656 appearances and won nine Serie A titles before leaving for PSG last summer.
Life in the French capital, though, didn’t suit Buffon well and he decided to cut short his stay in Paris this summer in favour of a return to his homeland.
Apparently, the 41-year-old will serve as an understudy to Wojciech Szczesny at Juventus for next season.
