Report: Kante a doubt for Chelsea in the Super Cup

Kante only managed a little over 15 minutes in Sunday’s game against United and is a fitness doubt for Wednesday night in Istanbul.

According to the Daily Mail, Frank Lampard is waiting on a late fitness test on the French international.

He made it to the bench for Sunday’s game and managed to come on in the 73rd minute.

Lampard said:

“Kante has a small injury and I will make a decision with that with him.”

“He is back in training and is pushing to play in Istanbul”

“He is recovering from an on-going knee issue picked up in pre-season.”

Lampard of his squad’s other injury concerns said:

“Willian and Rudiger are here and they are in different stages.”

“Willian is not far from fit, to put him on a high-intensity match is tough.”

Carragher urges Klopp to bolster Liverpool ASAP

The former English Premier League footballer believes Liverpool need new signings if they are to win the national competition someday.

“He will be working through this week on fitness.”

“Tomorrow he will be on the bench. Similarly with Rudiger.”

Lampard’s held their own for the first hour of the game against United. But fell apart in the last 30 minutes.

A player of Kante’s experience will bring some much-needed maturity and stability to the midfield. For the entire game if he is fit enough.

Liverpool will no doubt be an even bigger test than United. They too hit the ground running in the opening game.

Picking right back up where they left off, smashing four past Norwich.

Although Lampard has a limited squad. Due to injuries and departures. To go along with a transfer embargo restricting any incoming players.

He has put his faith in academy prospects, such as Tammy Abraham, Andreas Christensen, and Mason Mount.

But the availability of a world cup winner in the class of N’Golo Kante will be a big boost and can have a serious impact on the game.
