Ahead of the new season, it appears that Bayern Munich is getting closer to signing Leroy Sane despite Guardiola’s opposition.

It appears that Leroy Sane’s story with Manchester City is doomed to fail and he might be heading to Bayern Munich after all, the German winger is close to signing a new deal.

The Bavarian giants have been trying to convince Sane that he is the best option for them to replace Franck Ribery on the left-wing, they already have Serge Gnabry on the right but Sane would be ideal for them.

This player is actually a perfect signing for the Bundesliga club, he is from Germany and he has all the qualities they are looking for in a star.

The winger position is currently one of the most coveted in the transfer market, clubs pay a lot of money to lore those talents to their side.

In fact, Pep Guardiola is one of the greatest advocates to always go after these types of players first.

The philosophy that the Catalan manager follows utilizes the winger as the central part of his tactics, that tiki-taka football can’t work perfectly if the squad doesn’t have wide offensive players.

The idea for Pep is to mimic what he did on the wings during his time at Barcelona, the ideas he brought to the team through Dani Alves and Lionel Messi on the right-wing.

But something happened with Leroy Sane along the way that bought the player to this crossroads, he simply never clicked with the club.

Even though Pep Guardiola pushed hard for his transfer from Schalke 04 back in 2016, Sane arrived as one of the biggest hopes for the future and hasn’t quite lived up to the expectations.

There have been discipline problems the player went through, Pep didn’t appreciate his lack of commitment during the pre-season but he managed to turn his game around.

However, Sane has always been under the impression that he is worth a lot more than he really is and that’s why he hasn’t succeeded properly at City.

Pep still believes he can become one of the best players in the world, but he won’t jeopardize the club’s dynamic just because Leroy Sane is asking for more money on his contract.

The club offered him an extension already, but he is currently hesitating on whether he should remain at City or play for Bayern Munich next season.

Guardiola spoke to the press right after Man City’s 6-1 victory against Kitchee in Hong Kong.

“He did a good game, especially in the second half. He is a guy who we appreciate, I like him a lot,” said Guardiola after the match via Sky Sports.

“I think he can be better. Two times, three times I said: we want him to stay. That’s why he has an offer to extend his contract. It’s not in our hands.”

“The agreement is good and if he wants to leave, I’ll be sad. Hopefully, he stays.”

Sane is still hurt about missing the World Cup.

One of the biggest reasons Leroy Sane has never been truly happy at Manchester City is very simple, he doesn’t have a secured spot in the starting XI.

As one of the most competitive clubs in the continent, the Citizens always try to have as many great players on the roster as they can.

Contrary to previous eras when a starting eleven was fixed, today’s modern clubs have to be prepared for a total of four tournaments throughout the whole season.

Pep Guardiola can’t secure a starring position to any of his players, but Sane didn’t understand this when he wasn’t included in Germany’s squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The player missed the competition because he didn’t play enough minutes for City, this is something that Sane hasn’t forgotten about.

The player already knows that Bayern Munich will be a club where he will play regularly, something that will secure him a spot in the German squad.

All roads lead to this young winger leaving Manchester City and playing at Bayern Munich next season, but only because he doesn’t have a secured spot in the starting XI.

We will keep you posted on more information about this transfer as soon as we get the latest.
