The French national team has sent home Kylian Mbappe due to injury.
Didier Deschamps is enduring a terrible time with injuries right now.
He was already without Paul Pogba of Manchester United, and Hugo Lloris of Tottenham.
Things appear to be getting worse though, as he has now had to send star forward Kylian Mbappe home due to injury too.
It was always debatelable if Mbappe would be available as he has already been out for the last month through injury.
The French Football Federation released a statement regarding the player.
The statement read:
“After having spoken with the player, who was following a protocol of recovery since Monday, and Franck Le Gall, the doctor of the French team.”
“[France manager] Didier Deschamps decided to return the player to his club, Paris Saint-Germain.”
“Kylian Mbappe will leave Clairefontaine Wednesday morning. The staff of the France national team wishes a quick return to Kylian.”
Mbappe will miss France’s upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Iceland on Friday and against Turkey on Monday.
Deschamps has called up Borussia Monchengladbach striker Alassane Plea as Mbappe’s replacement in the squad.
The news will be a bitter disappointment to PSG and Thomas Tuchel, who have been without their striker for a month now.
Tuchel said only a few days ago, that the injury was back.
“He’s not suffered a relapse.”
“It’s a reaction between the scar and the nerve. I understand that it’ll take a bit of time to treat the scar.”
“He felt very free but now there’s been a small reaction. When he feels that, he is not loose.”
However, Deschamps was insistent on recalling the player to his Euro 2020 qualifier squad.
The situation is surely going to raise questions and reignite the great debate of club versus country.
Kylian Mbappé ne participera pas aux 2 prochains matches de l'Equipe de France. Pour le remplacer, Didier Deschamps a décidé de faire appel à Alassane Pléa (Borussia Mönchengladbach).
