Italian striker Mario Balotelli is reportedly close to signing a £1.8m deal to join Marseille until the end of this season

Balotelli’s stay at OGC Nice appears to be coming to an end with manager Patrick Vieira confessing last month his strained relationship with the 28-year-old.

After two impressive seasons at Nice, which saw him score 42 goals in 64 appearances, Balotelli hasn’t found the net once in 10 games this time around.

Wenger backs Henry to have a successful managerial career

Thierry Henry has the required "qualities" to become an outstanding manager, says his former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

In light of this, Vieira gave Balotelli a few extra days off during the French winter break in order to make a decision over his future after a failed summer move to Marseille.

But Sky Sports reports that Balotelli’s move to Stade Velodrome is back on with the Italy international set to sign a £1.8m deal until June.

Newcastle were previously linked with a move for Balotelli, who had played in the Premier League for Manchester City and Liverpool.
