Kylian Mbappe scores a hattrick and Mauro Icardi gets a brace, as PSG smash 5 past Brugge in Belgium.
It was the Mauro Icardi and Kylian Mbappe show tonight for PSG against Belgian side Club Brugge.
Much was made about the announcement that Neymar was didn’t even make the matchday squad.
Then when the starting 11 were announced, no Kylian Mbappe.
Not to worry, Thomas Tuchel had put his faith in new boy Mauro Icardi. Tuchel was spot on, it took Icardi only six minutes to find the back of the net.
Thiago Silva played a long ball to Angel Di Maria, who quite exquisitely turned with the ball at his feet and played a square pass to fellow Argentine Icardi.
Icardi made no mistake and put his side up.

The score stayed as it was for the remainder of the first half, but not for a lack of trying on Angel Di Maria’s part.
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United man had a couple of chances that were stopped before they could find the back of the net.

As Thomas Tuchel tries the softly and slowly approach in bringing back Kylian Mbappe from injury, he could not take the risk of finishing off this game.
In the 52nd minute, he took off Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and brought Mbappe on.
It took the Frenchman nine minutes to have the desired effect, as he headed the ball past Simon Mignolet in the Brugge goal.

Only one minute later, Mbappe turned provider. Icardi bagged his second and PSG’s third.
62 Minutes gone, Club Brugge 0 – 3 PSG.
Icardi may have got more, but a little over an hour was all the former Inter captain had in the tank.
He was replaced by Leandro Paredes.
The Belgians battened down the hatches, and that held off the Parisians for the best part of 17 minutes.
Who else but Mbappe again. This time Di Maria played the through ball for him to run onto and from his favoured right side of the six-yard box he made no mistake.
79 minutes played, Club Brugge 0 – 4 PSG.
Only four minutes later, 20-year-old Kylian Mbappe wrapped up the goal-scoring and his hattrick.
Again it was Argetine Angel Di Maria providing the service, and Mbappe making no mistake from the centre of the box picking out the bottom left-hand corner of the goal.
In the space of 31 minutes, Mbappe carved open the Brugge defence with some silky high-speed skill, that left them wondering where the ball even was at times.

The Belgians will feel a little hard done by. The statistics according to ESPN, tell the tale of a very even game in terms of possession.
But as many will tell you, it’s not how long you have the ball in football, but what you do with it when you have it that counts.
The result puts PSG top of Group A, with a record of played three won three.
