It is also claimed the Rossoneri will offer a three-year contract to the ex-Napoli tactician, worth €3m a season after tax.
Sarri’s footballing philosophy has been unpopular among Chelsea fans and despite qualifying for the Champions League and reaching the finals of the Europa League, his future at the club remains uncertain.
Milan would be acting now to steal a march on Roma, although the capital club seems to be targeting Atalanta’s, Gian Piero Gasperini.
The seven-time European champions are far away from their glory days and may likely miss out in next season’s Champions League.
Gattuso has struggled to get the best out of his players with reports of internal wrangles rife this season.
