Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly made a shock move in launching an attempt to sign Paulo Dybala from Juventus this summer.
PSG’s summer has largely been overshadowed by the ongoing Neymar drama, with Brazilian desperately trying to force his way out of the French club.
A Barcelona return is at the top of Neymar’s wishlist as he allegedly regrets leaving Camp Nou in the first place. Although latest reports have suggested a surprise move to Juventus could also be on the table.
But PSG have still managed to bring in reinforcements in the transfer window despite the Neymar saga. A total of five new players have arrived at the Parc Des Princes in Ander Herrera, Marcin Bulka, Mitchel Bakker, Pablo Sarabia and Abdou Diallo.
Diallo’s €32m arrival from Borussia Dortmund, in particular, will be a welcome boost considering PSG coach Thomas Tuchel desperately wanted to strengthen his centre-back options.
Overall, though, it’s been a relatively cheap transfer window for the Parisians with just €50m spent, so far.
All that could be about to change, however, based on a report from RMC Sport. Apparently, PSG sporting director Leonardo has reached out to Dybala’s entourage to discuss a move to France.
The Brazilian allegedly believes Dybala’s market value has dropped significantly following his struggles last season at Juventus.
After impressing during his first three campaigns, the 25-year-old simply couldn’t make things work for himself alongside Juventus’ new star man Cristiano Ronaldo and suffered a big dip in form.
Dybala, in fact, only scored five goals in his 30 Serie A appearances. It also remains uncertain how he may line-up under new Bianconeri boss Maurizio Sarri, who allegedly set Ronaldo a 40+ goal target for the new season.
Therefore, Leonardo reckons he can pull off a big coup for PSG by signing Dybala for less than €50m.
A potential deal for the Argentina international will also not hinge on the outcome of Neymar’s future as it’s a separate thing altogether.
Meanwhile, Le Parisien recently reported that Dybala’s Juventus’ team-mate Blaise Matuidi could be on PSG’s radar as well.
