Christian Pulisic rejected the chance to go to Manchester United.

The former Borussia Dortmund player chose not to go to United.

In an interview reported by Goal.com, there was one very simple factor that helped that decision.

The interview was with Robin Walker, a former coach of Pulisic when he played for non-league Brackley Town in 2005.
He said:
“He wouldn’t go to Manchester United because of Jose Mourinho.”
“His father couldn’t stand Mourinho because he didn’t promote young players.”
It apparently down to the fact his father disliked the former United manager. Mainly because of his management of youth players and lack of youth in his teams.
Walker believes that Pulisic never even contemplated a move to Manchester for that very reason.
Walker, who is a life long Chelsea fan asked Pulisic prior to his transfer if he had considered making London his new home.
He continued:

“It was at that point I asked, ‘What about London? That’s where it’s at.”

“I’m a Chelsea fan, I grew up in London supporting them.”

When I was in Dortmund last year, I told him that he had to come.”

The US men’s national team rising star put pen to paper with the Stamford Bridge team. He is being broken into the team and the Premier League by Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.

Lampard has said about his new winger:

“I am really happy with him.”

“There is lots, lots more to come. Again, [he’s showing] all the good signs for what he can be for the club.”

“The expectancy is right, he is a big signing for us but you have to remember his age.”

An interesting thought is what if things go pear-shaped for Lampard.

Jose is one of the favorites with the bookies for Roman Abramovich to call in and hold the fort.

What then for Mr. Pulisic?
