Report: Real Madrid make Paul Pogba their top target

Real Madrid have reportedly focused their main efforts in signing Paul Pogba from Manchester United this summer.

Several outlets have tipped Pogba to end a three-year stay at Old Trafford in favour of a summer move to Real. It comes amid another disappointing campaign, which saw the Frenchman struggle for consistency.

Therefore, Real are the favourites to land Pogba with head coach Zinedine Zidane a known admirer of his compatriot’s.

The Spanish giants are keen to bring in further reinforcements despite having already spent €303m on signing Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Rodrygo Gomes, Eder Militao and Ferland Mendy.

Among Real’s reported targets is Christian Eriksen, who will be out of contract at Tottenham next season. The Danish playmaker is open to the idea of taking on a new challenge, but admitted recently he’s unaware of any approach from Los Blancos.

And now Goal claims that Eriksen’s hopes of a move to the Santiago Bernabeu are practically over. Instead, Real intend to forgo their interest in him in favour of attempting to sign Pogba.

A possible motive for this decision may come down to Pogba’s comments in Tokyo last weekend, where he confirmed his desire to leave United. It likely assured Real that the World Cup winner’s interest in them is genuine.

But Pogba’s old team Juventus are also in the running for the midfielder, with sporting director Fabio Paratici confirming on Thursday the club still “love” him.

However, United are still reportedly unwilling to sell their prized asset as they begin a crucial rebuilding phase this summer. They’re also expecting to welcome Pogba back for pre-season training in July.

Therefore, Real and Juventus will likely have to dig deep into their pockets to tempt the Red Devils into a sale.

Apparently, Juventus have already begun plotting their move for Pogba with a bid of €140m set to lodged to United soon.
