According to a report from Jugones La Sexta, FC Barcelona is already thinking about Ronald Koeman as the ideal replacement for Valverde.
It’s safe to say that Ernesto Valverde’s job at FC Barcelona is currently on the line, the candidates appear simple and one of them could be Ronald Koeman.
The Netherlands’ boss has been preparing himself to someday coach the club in which he was the most successful during his playing career.
When he played under Johan Cruyff at the Catalan club, Koeman represented the ideal blueprint of a player that the manager wanted to use in order to create the philosophy that we know today.
Koeman hasn’t really enjoyed a relatively successful career in his country as a manager of three different clubs.
His biggest success came when he coached his childhood club, AFC Ajax.
However, Ronald hasn’t really won the biggest trophies in the most competitive leagues throughout Europe yet.
The experience this manager has until now is all that he can bring to the table at FC Barcelona, but he lacks a resume that perhaps other great candidates could have.
According to Jugones La Sexta, this didn’t stop the Barcelona board from making Koeman their top candidate to replace Ernesto Valverde next season.

His experience in the Dutch National Team is key.
The major selling point for Barcelona to choose Ronald Koeman for the position apart from his Blaugrana past, is his recent results with the Netherlands National Team.
Koeman has managed to put together the most recent Dutch generation of players who appear to be good enough to compete for all the trophies on the international stage again.
The arrival of Frenkie de Jong to the Catalan club is one of the most attractive temptations that Koeman would have to accept the job.
However, there is a major chance that the Holland boss could say no to Barcelona because he doesn’t want to interrupt what he’s been doing with the squad so far.
Koeman is currently in the middle of an outstanding process that could end with him qualifying his country to the upcoming European Championship in the year 2020.
Ronald is also in a contest to possibly win the UEFA Nations League, where he will face England in June.
The challenges that Koeman has ahead are a good enough reason to say no to Barcelona for now.
The problem is that the Catalan club could not give him this opportunity again in the near future, Koeman has to make a decision in the next few weeks.
#RUMOR : Ronald Koeman suena como posible entrenador para el FC Barcelona para la próxima temporada. Ahora mismo es el entrenador de la selección holandesa y a llevado a los neerlandeses a la final four de la UEFA Nations League. Personalmente, me gusta. pic.twitter.com/1mkiMR7wXi

Barcelona’s other options if Koeman says no.
Jugones’ report also says that in case Ronald Koeman rejects FC Barcelona, the other clear option for them would be Erik ten Hag.
The current AFC Ajax manager completed an outstanding season with his club and he mesmerized the Barcelona board of directors with his offensive proposal.
Ten Hag would remain as the only other option for now because Xavi reportedly rejected the club as long as Josep Maria Bartomeu remains as the club’s president.
The Catalan player didn’t end in the best terms with the chairman because he was the one who pushed him out of the club back in 2015.
Xavi is the one that pretty much all the fans want as the ideal replacement for Ernesto Valverde, but the legendary player has made up his mind for now.
It appears that if the current Blaugrana manager gets sacked anytime soon, Barcelona will most likely have a Dutch manager for the new season.
We believe that whoever comes to coach the squad between the options they have, any of them would be a perfect choice for the new project.
