Nemanja Vidic claims that Sergio Aguero was his nemesis on the football field.
At 37 years of age as Vidic reflects back on a career that saw him collect an 18 trophy haul.
This included five Premier League titles, three English League cups, 1 European Champions League, and one FIFA Club World Cup
In an interview with The Athletic reported by the Daily Mail, former United centre-back Nemanja Vidic talks about his worst game for United and Aguero.
There were not many that got the best of the big tough-tackling nonsense Serbian international.
Sergio Aguero and Fernando Torres were two that did though.
Vidic talks about what he describes as the worst game of his life.
“I played against Aguero when they beat us 4-1 in the Moyes season.”
“He (Aguero) looks like he’s not interested in football on the pitch.”
“He doesn’t look like a guy who will run 10 metres and then — bang — he makes the sprint.”
Agueros’ ability to read the game, as well as understand and even preempt his opponent’s actions, led him to only one conclusion.
“I’m convinced that Aguero was born as a defender.”
“He knows where the ball will come and where he can attack.”
But in the box, he has a low centre of gravity, which helps him change direction quickly — especially against the big English defenders.”
He says that game was even worse than both humbling losses in the Champions League finals.
“That was my worst game for United.”
“I know I’m supposed to choose those two final defeats to and they were horrible to lose. That one in Rome and Wembley was even tougher.”
