It was the Italian sides big debut in the most prestigious tournament that club football has to offer.

The team that finished 3rd in last years Serie A appeared to be out of their depth.

Quite concerning given that this Zagreb team probably has the least to offer in terms of opposition compared to the rest of Group C

They still have the likes of Manchester City and Shakhtar Donetsk to face.

It only took the hosts ten minutes to get on the scoreboard. Midfielder Marin Leovac fired Dinamo ahead.

Leovac slid in to meet a perfect pass from Petar Stojanovic.

The ball came in from the right and he blasted it into the roof of the net from close range. It gave Atalanta keeper Pierluigi Gollini no chance.

In the 31st minute, Mislav Orsic opened his account for the night, scoring his first of three goals.

This time Leovac was the provider as he powered past his marker down the left-wing only to sieze the opportunity ot square the ball to the waiting Orsic. He simply side-footed the ball into the bottom left corner of the net from 18 yards out

Stojanovic got the assist for Zagreb’s third goal of the night, Just a few minutes before the half time break.

Stojanovic crossed the ball from the right, Arijan Ademi, was at the far post to head the ball back across the face of goal, for a waiting Orsic to head the ball in from the six-yard line.

42 minutes on the clock, Zagreb 3-0 up and Orsic had a brace.

Orsic completed his hattrick, with a thunderbolt finish from 20 yards out.

The ball was lofted across the pitch and Orsic had the perfect first touche, to set himself up for a free-flowing driven shot, that flew past keeper Gollini.

Zagreb 4 – Atalanta 0, was the score and how it finished.

The home side could have easily scored more, and the visitors had little to offer, registering just one shot on goal all night.
