Ribery hoping that Boateng stays at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribéry is hoping that Jerome Boateng will decide to remain at the club for next season after Arturo Vidal’s exit

The Germany international has been strongly linked with a departure from the Allianz Arena this summer after previously revealing his desire to test himself elsewhere before the end of his playing career.

And Bayern’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that Boateng has entered negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain over a summer move, although the German club has yet to receive a formal offer for the centre-back.

“I hope he stays with us because he is very important with his presence, and for me he is one of the best center-backs in the world,” Ribéry said on OneFootball.

The former France international conceded that it will be difficult to replace Vidal after the Chilean completed his €18m move to Barcelona.

“This is a difficult situation for us, Arturo was a really great player and also a good person, he has always been positive, has brought a lot of fun, it is a pity,” he said.

“We have to wish him and his family good luck.”

But, on the bright side, Ribéry is enjoying things under new Bayern boss Niko Kovac.

“He brings discipline to the team, loves his job and has a lot of energy, he’s a motivator,” said the wideman.

“It works well with him because he knows when we have to work very hard on the pitch and when we need to be free.”
