Fiorentina’s Franck Ribery has suffered ankle ligament damage which may rule him out until 2020.
Ribery picked up the injury during Saturday’s Serie A clash with Lecce., which the Viola went consequently wen on to lose 0-1.
Ribery was forced off in the first half after a challenge from Panagiotis Tachtsidis.
The Frenchman had to be assisted off the field and appeared to be in quite some pain.
A statement from the club on their official website, fiorentina.it read:
“Ribery underwent tests after spraining his ankle.”
“They revealed a Grade I/II tear of the medial collateral ligament of his right ankle. He has begun treatment and his condition will be re-assessed soon.”
In a further update to the statement posted a little later, there was the suggestion he is expected to be out until the New Year.
Ribery has made significant contributions to the team this season and will be missed if hie is out for any length of time.
