Declan Rice believes he and his teammates’ “rubbish” football is letting down manager Manuel Pellegrini.
Pellegrini is under pressure following a poor start to the season.
Results have seen the Hammers languishing in 16th in the Premier League, just a point above the relegation zone.
It has led to speculation that the West Ham board have convened a meeting regarding Pellegrini’s future.
But not everyone blames the manager. His star player Declan Rice has jumped to his defense, calling out the players for the team’s current predicament.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the latest defeat, Rice did not shy away from what he feels are the facts.
“It is heartbreaking. We are in the rubbish at the moment.”
“When one goes in we need to learn to keep our heads up.”
” They have great players but they are all preventable goals.”
“We need to look at ourselves.”
“The manager is great, the players love the manager.”
“We work hard all week and sometimes you wonder why we can’t transfer that to the pitch.”
While Rice may be right about his team and teammates, the question is how long does Pellegrini have to turn things around?
