Arthur Melo has been strongly linked to Juventus over the past weeks but Barcelona legend Rivaldo expects him to be at the club for many more years.
Recent rumors have circled around Arthur making a move to Juventus in the summer.
The Brazilian hasn’t featured as much for the Catalan giants this season, leading to talk Barca could be open to selling him in the summer.
As per reports, Juventus are even willing to offer Miralem Pjanic as a make-shift to sign Arthur but it appears Barca are not entertaining the idea in any fashion.
Despite his reduced game time this season, Barcelona still see the 23-year-old as integral to their future plans and would rather keep him at the club at all costs.
Barca legend, Rivaldo, has now shared his thoughts on the matter. The 48-year-old believes it’s all talk and he expects his compatriot to remain at the club for many more years.
“There are lots of rumors about potential Barcelona transfers this summer and some press recently mentioned that Arthur could leave,” Rivaldo said in his Betfair column as quoted by Marca.
“I believe this is just talk and expect Arthur to stay at the club for many years.
“He hasn’t completed two complete seasons there yet.
“He arrived as the potential successor to Xavi [Hernandez] because of his similar style of play, so it makes no sense to sell him when he is just 23 and has his career ahead of him.
Rivaldo also added that having Arthur at Barcelona increases their chances of signing Neymar, due to the pair’s good relationship.
“Furthermore, Arthur has a good relationship with Neymar and selling the youngster could harm Barcelona’s chances of bringing Neymar back.
“Of course, a potential Arthur move won’t cancel a Neymar deal as he as many other friends at Barcelona.
“But I think it’s important to keep a solid base to the squad and having him could help persuade Neymar to return to the club.”
