Barcelona and Brazil legend Rivaldo has given Neymar his approval over a Camp Nou comeback despite his struggles to leave Paris Saint-Germain.

Neymar has made it his mission to seal an unexpected return to Barcelona this summer following a lacklustre two years over at PSG.

Hopes were high over in Paris following Neymar’s world-record €222m arrival in 2017 from Barcelona. However, foot injuries have frequently left him sidelined and unable to deliver on the club’s goal of Champions League glory.

Now, the 27-year-old has decided to quit and wants a Barcelona return sealed before the end of the current transfer window. Although the club’s president, Josep Bartomeu, appeared to rule out a move altogether after conceding that PSG won’t sell their prized asset.

But the French club’s sporting director Leonardo opened the door for Barcelona on Tuesday by announcing Neymar can leave PSG for the right price. These comments came in light of the forward’s no-show for pre-season training earlier this week.

And Rivaldo, who starred at Catalonia for five seasons, still hopes to see his compatriot back in a Blaugrana jersey.

“For the moment, the one [Brazilian] that I like the most is Neymar,” said Rivaldo, according to Yahoo.

“I [would] like that he returns to Barcelona.”

Barcelona have made three signings in the summer transfer window in Ajax star Frenkie de Jong, Valencia goalkeeper Neto and right-back Emerson from Atletico Mineiro.

Meanwhile, Rivaldo heaped praise of a new and upcoming Brazilian star in Vinicius Junior following a brilliant debut campaign for Real Madrid.

The teenage attacker, who will celebrate his 19th birthday on Friday, finished with three goals and 12 assists in 31 appearances. He even leapfrogged established stars like Gareth Bale and Lucas Vazquez in the pecking order.

“We have Vinicius, who is a great player that went to Madrid and has everything that is needed to be a great player,” said Rivaldo.
