Brazilian legend Rivaldo sees a lot of benefits for his compatriot Douglas Costa playing for Manchester City next season.
Douglas Costa has been no more than a fringe player for Juventu this season. The Brazilian winger has only managed seven starts for Maurizio Sarri’s side. Even after scoring a couple of vital goals, the Brazillian was never any more than a backup for the likes of Dybala and Ronaldo.
Italian tactician Sarri prefers to play with attack minded wing backs such as Juan Cuadrado, who offer defensive assistance as well as offensive prowess.
It remains to be seen if the club or the player will seek to sever their time this summer. But if they do there is one destination that Brazilian legend Rivaldo thinks is tailor-made for compatriot Costa.
Speaking to Betfair, it’s a move to the Premier League and one team in particular.
“Looking at the transfer market, I think Douglas Costa moving from Juventus to Manchester City would be an interesting possibility.”
“Costa hasn’t played too much at Juve and could find a bigger stage to shine at City as it seems the club is trying to sign him.”
“A professional career is so short it will be important for him to find a new club where he can play more regularly. He is a great player, who I really admire.”
It remains to be seen who Pep Guardiola will bring in to the Etihad this summer.
