The Spanish national team manager, Robert Moreno, took the job after Luis Enrique stepped down because his nine-year-old daughter passed away after a bone tumor.
Manager Luis Enrique’s nine-year-old daughter Xana passed away after a bone tumor.
This made him step down as the Spanish national team coach, living his spot to Robert Moreno.
And today Moreno has admitted that he would step aside if Luis Enrique asks him to.
“It’s been a difficult week,” Moreno said according to Marca.
“We will try to give negligible joy at a very bad moment. It’s the only thing we can do.”
He explained: “It’s a very recent situation and we’re not going to talk about it.”
“I consider Luis a friend and this friendship go ahead of everything else.”
“If he wants to return one day, I will be delighted to step aside and work with him,” he added.
“As it stands yes, Sergio Ramos is going to play. But I want him to think that if he’s not right, he’s not going to play.”
“I’m delighted that the youngsters have Sergio beside them because he’s going to help them a lot,” he said.
“We have a very good generation of center-backs and I don’t think we’re going to have just one good partner for Sergio, but we’re going to have replacements [too],” Moreno concluded.
