Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson was left extremely frustrated by Paris Saint-Germain and Neymar’s gamesmanship in Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat
The Reds’ hopes of reaching the Champions League knockout stages suffered a major blow with their loss to PSG enabling the French side to leapfrog them into second in Group C.
While James Milner had scored a penalty before the break, it was not enough to cancel out Juan Bernat and Neymar’s earlier goals.
Speaking afterwards, a frustrated Robertson lashed out at PSG’s tactics during the game.
“I suppose they were in the lead and they were looking to waste time,” Robertson told Sky Sports.
“You can use gamesmanship, playacting, you can use it all really.
“I would like to know how much time they wasted. It was frustrating. But when you play against PSG you know it’s something you’re going to come up against especially with him [Neymar]. It wasn’t something we quite dealt with tonight.
“It’s frustrating when he is falling like he is. It’s all part and parcel of his game and we needed to deal with that. We didn’t quite control our aggression.”
Liverpool must beat Group C leaders Napoli in their next Champions League match on December 11 at home in order to have a chance at reaching the last-16.
“It is at Anfield. I am sure we will have another special night,” Robertson said.
“The fans can create a special atmosphere and hopefully get the result that we need.”
