Liverpool’s Andy Robertson insists he has to pick Sadio Mane ahead of Mohamed Salah in his all Liverpool star-studded five-a-side team.
Liverpool has contenders in just about every position this season for a shout in any all-star team.
So when Andy Robertson decided to select his ultimate five-a-side team from his teammates we knew it was going to be good, but also controversial.
There were always going to be those who would take offense or get their feelings hurt when Robertson was given the task of picking just five of his teammates for a small-sided all-star team.
Speaking to The Lockdown Tactics podcast, he admits he is surrounded by some of the best in the world, and the choices were not easy.
Robertson can’t help but enjoy winding up some players because he knows how aggravated they will be by being left out.
“Alisson in goal for obvious reasons, you’re not getting any better than him.”
“Virgil van Dijk at the back, you can’t get by him at 11-a-side never mind five-a-side, there’s not a chance.”
“I’ll play a diamond and will go Bobby Firmino, technically one of the best players I’ve ever played with. Five-a-side suits him to a tee, he’d be perfect for that.”
“I would put in Jordan Henderson. Technically he is one of the most underrated players I’ve ever worked with.”
“Then I will go with the boy who plays in front of me, Sadio Mane. He brings a bit of pace, he brings the goals.”
“I’ll put him in ahead of Mo, just because I know it will annoy Mo Salah and that’s perfect for me!”
“Sadio is one of the best in the world.”
