Rodrygo Goes has revealed that he could not control his nervousness when he first met Zinedine Zidane.
Real Madrid splashed €45 million for the signature of Santos starlet Rodrygo last year. A few eyebrows were raised on the 18-year old’s price tag but the Brazilian has been proving critics wrong with some eye-catching performances.
Rodrygo also became the second-youngest player to score a hat-trick in the Champions League against Galatasaray earlier. So far this season, the former Santos man has scored five goals in Real Madrid colors in twice as many matches.
Recently, Rodrygo recalled the time when he first met Zinedine Zidane. The young forward claimed that he was anxious to see his idol in front of him.
“When I met Zidane, I started shaking,” Rodrygo Goes told Real Madrid TV.
“I used to watch videos of him when he was a player and he’s now my coach. It’s crazy. I was delighted to meet him but I was so nervous.”
“I’m really happy with the way I’ve started at Real Madrid,” Rodrygo continued.
“It couldn’t have gone better. Everything has gone really well. Things have moved even quicker than I expected, and hopefully, I can continue in this vein.”
