Roma are looking to make a big money offer for the Ajax Amsterdam starlet as the Italian giants look to strengthen the squad in the summer
Roma are all set to announce Pauli Fonseca as the club’s latest coach. The Portuguese coach is reportedly going to sign the contract on Tuesday. On Wednesday, a meeting is scheduled in London with club president James Pallotta and advisor Franco Baldini.
Fonseca is also going to meet with other influential figures at Roma which also includes club legend, Francesco Totti.
Following a disastrous 2018/2019 Serie A campaign, Roma are looking to rebuild the squad. A few players are going to make way for fresh faces. It has already been reported that Edin Dzeko might also be allowed to leave with Internazionale rumored to be the Bosnian’s preferred destination.
Fonseca on his part, is keen to bring 20 year old Florentino Luis from Benfica. The youngster shone for Portugal at the Under 20 World Cup. However, at the age of 20, Luis needs time for development.
Which is why, the Roma management is eyeing a move for Netherlands international, Donny Van de Beek according to La Repubblica. The youngster is currently under contract at Ajax Amsterdam and is coming on the back of a strong Champions League campaign.
However, the Dutch giants are not going to settle for anything less than €50 million for their prized asset.
Ajax’s displays in the Champions League have attracted a lot of interest in several of their players and with the likes of Matthijs de Ligt also linked with a move away this summer.
At present, Roma consider the asking price to be steep but with other clubs in Italy already willing to splash the cash on preferred targets, the Pallotta family might cave in. Moreover, following a miserable campaign, the Lupi needs to sign the right players this time around and Van de Beek is going to be a great addition.
