AS Roma are believed to be pursuing Manchester United’s defender Daley Blind before the transfer window shuts on Wednesday night

The Dutch defender joined United in 2014 from Dutch side Ajax for a reported fee of £13m. However lately Blind has struggled to have any game time this season, having fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Following the departure of Emerson Palmieri to Chelsea this week for a £17.6m transfer fee, Roma are believed to now be looking at replacement’s for the Brazilian who regularly occupied the left-back position for the Serie A side.

According to Sky in Italy, as reported on Sky Sports, it is believed that Blind is open to the prospect of moving to Italy in order to gain more playing time. The Dutchman has often been overlooked by manager Jose Mourinho, who has instead selected Ashley Young, Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo in his place.

Hailing from Holland, Blind started his professional football career at the famous Ajax youth academy. After a brief spell with the Ajax first team, he went on loan to Groningen, before returning to Ajax and being named the Dutch Footballer Of The Year during the 2013/14 season. He later secured a move to United and has featured in 139 games and has scored 6 goals for the Premier League side in a 4 year period.
