AS Roma apparently turned down the chance to sign Erling Braut Haaland two years ago, the fee back then was a mere €4m.
Roma must be kicking themselves as they watch Erling Haaland smashing goals in for fun. In fact, Haaland has scored 39 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions this so far this season.
To put this into context, that’s only four fewer goals this season himself than Roma have scored as a team in Serie A.
Now it must be said two years ago Haaland was not he prolific marksman and he was also only 17 years of age.
In an interview with Radio Centro Suono Sport, Roma director of women’s football Nela insists then director of football Monchi turned down the chance to sign Haaland.
“Roma were offered the chance to sign Erling Haaland two years ago for €4m.”
“He was proposed to Monchi by a former Roma player, but the club turned him down, so he went to Salzburg instead.”
Never mind Roma, apparently, you weren’t the only ones. It is understood that Manchester United and Juventus also missed out.
