Gonzalo Higuain could be on the verge of leaving Juventus this summer with Roma working actively to bring the striker to the capital.
The Higuain operation is in full swing. AS Roma are enthusiastic about giving the Argentine international a chance to resurrect his career one last time.
The striker is surplus to requirements at Juve with the Turiners looking to force him out. and with Edin Dzeko keen on joining Inter Milan, the Giallorossi are keen on securing a decent replacement.
While he is 32 and hasn’t been in inspiring form in the last two couple of seasons, Gonzalo Higuain may come to life at Rome.
The striker is under contract at Juventus until 2021 and makes 6.5 million Euros per year apart from bonuses. The salary is not an issue at the moment. While he doesn’t want to leave Juventus, Higuain is also aware that he’s going to struggle for game time if he chooses to stay and fight for his place.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the striker could be open to the possibility of playing at another prestigious club with guarantees of being central to the team’s plans.
However, this could prove to be a risky move for Roma. The club hasn’t had a great 2018/19 campaign and could do with a player who has been consistent up front. While there may not be a lot of options on the market, Higuain might not be the solution.
Last season, the former Napoli man scored only five goals for Juventus. His loan spell at Chelsea was also a disappointing one.
Many believe that Higuain is never going to showcase the form that made him one of the greatest strikers to have ever donned the Napoli colors. Indeed, the player’s descent has been speedy since then.
And he could be a problem that Roma should avoid.
