Mallorca youth academy graduate, Luka Romero, has been likened to Lionel Messi, comparisons that do not sit well with the youngster.

Luka Romero made headlines in La Liga when he made his first-team debut at the age of 15 years and 219 days. Moreover, he was coming on the pitch against Real Madrid.

The Mexican born Argentine youth is unfazed by the spotlight on his shoulders and believes everyone becomes equal on the pitch. Romero likened a La Liga fixture to playing with friends in the park.

“It doesn’t scare me,” Marca quoted Romero. “Football is played on equal terms everywhere.

“For me, it’s like playing at the park with my friends. I have to enjoy it and try to do well.”

Romero’s short stature, nationality, and youthful exuberance have led to comparisons with Lionel Messi. The teenager does not want the comparisons with La Pulga and wants to be his own man.

He stated that although he is not annoyed with these comparisons, he wants to forge his own name in world football before adding that he is a super Messi fan.

“There’s only one Messi.”

“It’s annoying because I want to make my own name in football as Luka Romero.”

“Well, it’s not annoying, but I prefer to be called by my own name.”

“I’m a Messi fan. I watch all his games.”
