The Atletico Madrid star has opened up on his admiration of his fellow Portuguese while naming the Juventus talisman as his mentor.

Joao Felix insists Cristiano Ronaldo has been a “big influence” for him as he describes his relationship with his national team captain.

Felix has been considered by many as the heir to Ronaldo in the Portugal team ever since his remarkable breakthrough with Benfica.

It was Atletico Madrid who won the race to land the highly-talented forward in 2019, with Los Rojibalncos having to splash upwards of €120 million to acquire his services.

The 2019 Golden Boy experienced a challenging debut season in La Liga but appears to have rediscovered his best form this term.

Scoring nine goals and registering five assists across all competitions so far in 2020-21, the youngster has established himself as a key figure in Diego Simeone’s team.

The 21-year-old has explained that working alongside an all-time great in the national team in the early stages of his career has been advantageous for him.

“Cristiano is a big influence for me,” Felix proclaimed in an exclusive interview for Daily Mail.

“When we are with the national team, he always tries to give me and all of the young guys advice about work, motivation, everything.”
