Lowly Udinese perhaps pulled off the shock of the Serie A season by beating champions-elect, Cristiano Ronaldo led Juventus.
Juventus were hoping to wrap up the Serie A title race in tonight’s match with Udinese. But another lackluster performance by Cristiano Ronaldo and company let relegation-threatened Udinese grab a vital win.
Despite dominating possession, the Bianconeri never looked like the ruthless free-scoring team that we are used to seeing against lesser opposition.
Chances went begging, with poor efforts to finish relentless attacks yielding no end product.
Juventus did, however, look like they were going to seal their ninth league title in a row when an unlikely source came up with a banger of a goal.
Defender Matthijs De Ligt hit a belter from distance and it went screaming into the back of the net. One-nil in the 42nd minute saw Maurizio Sarri’s men go in with the lead at half-time.
However, Udinese was not about to give up on the game or their Serie A survival that easily.
Less than ten minutes after the restart, Nestorovski equalized to stun the visitors.
If that was not bad enough, when it appeared that the game was heading for a draw Udinese turned party poopers and grabbed a winner.
The second minute of injury time and the field was apparently full of tired legs. But not for Fofana. The Udinese number six picks the ball up on the halfway line. He beats Sandro for pace before cutting inside Matthijs de Ligt and slotting the ball under Wojciech Szczesny.
Three points for Udinese as they climb to 15th and nearer safety, and as for Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus the Champagne must stay on ice and the celebrations wait for another night.
