Three players are back in the fold as Manchester United take on top-four rivals Arsenal, but Paul Pogba is likely out for the season.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Scott McTominay, and Raphael Varane are available for Saturdayâs Premier League clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
The Manchester United trio return after missing Tuesdayâs 4-0 defeat to Liverpool. Ronaldo was on compassionate leave after the death of his baby boy. The forward returned to training on Wednesday and interim boss Ralf Rangnick has now confirmed CR7 will make the trip to London.
McTominay, on the other hand, made the bench at Anfield but didnât play. The midfielder, like Ronaldo, reported back to training this week after recovering from a foot injury.
While Varane has missed Unitedâs last three games against Liverpool, Norwich, and Everton due to muscular problems.
âScott McTominay will be back and fit to play, he has been in training with us and he will train today, he will be available for the game, the same is true with Raphael Varane,â said Rangnick in a pre-match press conference on Friday.
âCristiano Ronaldo is available again, heâs been training with us.â
Pogba ‘very likely’ to miss the rest of the season
But itâs not all the good news as Rangnick has announced that Pogbaâs calf injury may rule the midfielder out for the rest of the season.
If thatâs the case, Pogba, who is out of contract in June, may already have played his last game for the club.
âAll of the others are still injured plus Paul Pogba,” said Rangnick.
“Paul, as it seems, with the scan we did the day before yesterday, it is very likely he will not play until the end of the season again.
âThe doctor told me it will take four weeks minimum for him to recover and obviously the last game is the end of May. I donât think it is very likely he will be able to play again [this season].â
Forward Edinson Cavani (calf), midfielder Fred (groin), and left-back Luke Shaw (ankle) are still sidelined for United this weekend.
