Cristiano Ronaldo has been named as the most influential football player online in China.
In a report accumulated by digital marketing agency Mailman, Cristiano Ronaldo was found to be the football player with the highest digital influence in China.
According to the Red Card, the report, Ronaldo was the only player with a growth in his online fanbase. Meanwhile, most of the players’ digital engagement fell by 15 percent last year.
The Portuguese also beat his arch-rival Lionel Messi and PSG forward Neymar to clinch the title for the second year in a row.
The Juve forward was ecstatic after hearing about his overseas accomplishment. After hearing about his fanbase in China, Ronaldo said that he was thankful for the people of China.
“I am very pleased with this award,” Ronaldo said.
“I know that I have a huge part of fans in China and it means a lot to be on top of the table for the second year in a row.”
According to the reports, Barcelona is also the club with the widest fanbase in China. Barcelona came from the fifth position to overtake last year’s topper Real Madrid. Moreover, as the report highlighted, Chinese fans are more drawn to the Premier League than any other league.
