It is time to announce the winners of the Ronaldo.com Awards in Ligue 1 this season, as you’ve chosen the best players on each position for the 2018-19 campaign.

Paris Saint-Germain clinched another Ligue 1 title this season, making it two in a row and six in the previous seven years.

The Parisians totally dominated the French League scoring 105 goals and noting 91 points in the campaign. They finished the season 16 points ahead of closest challengers Lille, but also suffered an embarrassing 5-1 defeat to Les Dogues.

They also dominate the following list of four players, best one on each position, which were chosen by you, voting for your favorite of our five nominees. Check out the winners of the Ronaldo.com Awards in Ligue 1 and share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Goalkeeper: Alphonse Areola with 31% of your votes

The battle for the Ronaldo.com Best Ligue 1 Goalkeeper for the 2018-19 campaign was really close, as Alphonse Areola edged out Stephane Ruffier and Walter Benitez by a single vote.

Areola shared the place between the sticks at Paris Saint-Germain with Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon. The Frenchman made 21 appearances, noting 11 clean sheets and conceding 17 goals in the process.

He won his third League 1 crown with the Parisians this season, but failed to clinch the Coupe de France as well, losing to Rennes in the final’s penalty shootout.

Defender: Jose Fonte with 44% of your votes

European champions with Portugal from 2016, Jose Fonte joined Lille at the start of the season, transforming the club from a team that battles to avoid relegation to the second best in French football.

Les Dogues had the best defense in the league this season, as they conceded only 33 goals and noted 15 clean sheets.

The Portuguese played a vital role in Lille’s success, helping them to qualify for the 2019-20 Champions League campaign. He is the only non-PSG player on the list.

Midfielder: Angel Di Maria with 57% of your votes

Angel Di Maria won his third Ligue 1 title this season, since joining Paris Saint-Germain back in the summer of 2015.

He finished the season as the second best provider in the league with 12 assists by his name. The Argentine also scored 12 goals, his best goalscoring tally in French football.

Di Maria played a vital role in PSG’s run the to Coupe de France final with three goals in three games. It was not enough for the Parisians though, as the lost to Stade Rennais on penalties.

Forward: Kylian Mbappe with 58% of your votes

World Cup winner with France from the previous summer, Kylian Mbappe has already established himself as the most talented player in football.

The Frenchman won his third successive Ligue 1 title this season and finished the 2018-19 campaign as the top goalscorer in the French League.

He is the only player alongside Lionel Messi to score more than 30 goals in the top 5 leagues this season, but lost the race for the European Golden Shoe to the Argentine, netting 3 goals fewer than the Barcelona legend.
