Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappe are the only three players who could replace the Liverpool front three, insists John Barnes.

In Mohamed Salad, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino, Liverpool have one of the most lethal attacking teams in world football.

The trio has played an integral part in Liverpool’s success in the past two seasons, leading them to Champions League and Premier League glories.

The Reds scored 85 goals in their title-winning campaign last season, more than the likes of Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus. And either of three attackers was found responsible for more than fifty percent of those goals.

However, individually, none of those players came even close to match’s Ronaldo’s tally.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner found the back of the net 31 times in just 33 matches, finishing only second to Golden Boot winner Ciro Immobile in the Serie A goalscoring charts.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Wolves’ Adama Traore as they look to strengthen their attack.

However, John Barnes believes that Traore will not be guaranteed a starting role in Jurgen Klopp’s line-up as only Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, or Lionel Messi could displace Salah, Mane, and Firmino.

“Yes – he would fit into the team as long as he doesn’t expect to take over from the front three, which is the big problem for anybody coming into the team,” Barnes told BonusCodeBets, via Express.

“If they want to come to Liverpool and say, ‘We want to be one of the first players on the team sheet to play ahead of those front three,’ that’s probably not going to happen.

“And I do think that Traore wants to be guaranteed a place, which is unlikely to happen unless you’re Mbappe, Lionel Messi, or Ronaldo.”
