Khabib Nurmagomedov has instructed Cristiano Ronaldo to start thinking about hanging up his boots.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s devotion to fitness is no news to anyone who watches football. Along with his talent, Ronaldo’s obsession with perfection has enabled him to stay at the top of the game for so long.
The Portuguese ace won his first top-flight league trophy with Manchester United back in 2007 and has not looked back since. Bar the World Cup, Ronaldo has won everything there is to win and still looks hungry as ever.
But MMA fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov believes the 34-year old should start making retirement plans. Khabib, who is known to be a Real Madrid fan, suggested that rather sooner than later Ronaldo will start losing his abilities and, hence, will lose out to the arrow of time.
“Well, you know, it’s hard to leave something you’ve done all your life. But it doesn’t matter if you want to retire or not, there will come a time if you don’t leave the sport, the sport will leave you,” Khabib said as per Calciomercato.
“If you do not leave at the right time, you will be left behind, because there will be new champions, younger and more motivated boys. And at the end of your career, you won’t have the same motivations and hunger you had when you started. No one stays on top forever, so it is important to retire at the right time.
“How old is Ronaldo? 34? At 35 he will not have the same reaction times and the same physical form. And no matter if you are Cristiano or Khabib, someone will take your place. My advice to him, which also applies to me, is to retire at the right time,” Khabib Nurmagomedov concluded.
