Cristiano Ronaldo got into trouble for not wearing a mask as he watched Portugal from the stands in their Nations League match on Saturday.
Cristiano Ronaldo was not on the pitch but still managed to get a bit of the spotlight.
The 35-year-old was forced to miss his side’s outing against Croatia due to a reported infection he suffered last week.
Without Ronaldo, Portugal made light off the World-Cup 2018 finalists.
Goals from Joao Cancelo, Diogo Jota, Joao Felix and Andre Silva made it an easy stroll for Portugal against Croatia. The result sees A Seleção continue their rich form and they have now won nine of their last 10 matches.
It wasn’t long until CR7 drew attention to himself while watching his side from the stands.
After initial warnings, a warden at the stadium had to walk up to Ronaldo and boldy tell him to put on his mask. The video was shared by Brazilian outlet Esporte Interativo.
The 35-year-old made no issue of the situation and quickly complied with what he was asked to do.
No doubt, Ronaldo missed a golden chance to make it 100 goals in a Portugal jersey. Watching from the stands, he would have fancied his chances of grabbing a goal at least.
His fitness continues to be in doubt and he could yet miss Portugal’s next outing against Sweden on Tuesday.
