Cristiano Ronaldo can finally catch a breath after the lawsuit filed against him on counts of rape has been dropped by the accuser.
Making it Serie A does come with a few challenges ahead. Of course, no one knows this better than Cristiano Ronaldo. Namely, the superstar has been battling a legal case filed against him, blaming him for rape.
Although Serie A did not address the issue, fans of Ronaldo were anticipating to see whether the player will manage to overcome this prison-threatening accusation. And, he did.
The case in question was first opened in September 2009. In addition, it accused Ronaldo of raping Kathryn Mayorga, the woman who is now withdrawing her claims. As you may recall, Mayorga stated that Ronaldo had sexual intercourse without her consent, after she visited a Las Vegas penthouse, which Ronaldo supposedly attended as well.
As per the alleged victim, she and Ronaldo met at a nightclub and then continued their hangout in private. However, Marca now claims the charges have been dropped by Mayorga herself after she agreed for a settlement back in 2010.
Mayorga actually settled the case for a 375,000 dollar sum. With that, the state of Nevada has also sealed the case for good. Ever since the start, Ronaldo was adamant on proving his innocence. Moreover, he was willing to participate in any way in resolving the case.
Sure, those who are not the biggest fans of Ronaldo, enjoy mentioning the player has ‘bought off’ his freedom for a soothing compensation.
With the strength of lawyers and Ronaldo’s reported innocence, we can’t sure as to what took place that very night. However, we can be certain that being the most popular football player at the moment, does come with side-effects.
Regardless, Cristiano is now back to being a free-of-charge man and is looking forward to fortifying his dominance in Juventus.
