The legendary former Red Devils manager celebrates his 80th birthday today.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United, and fans have wished former manager Sir Alex Ferguson a happy birthday.
The Scot celebrates his milestone 80th birthday today on New Year’s Eve, a day after watching Ronaldo and his old team beat Burnley 3-1 to secure a badly needed three points in the Premier League from the Old Trafford stands.
The fans honored Ferguson on Thursday night by unveiling a special banner to pay tribute to English football’s most successful manager.
Now Ronaldo, who supplied a goal and assist in the game, wished the man he regards as his ‘football father’ all the best for his big day on Instagram, with a picture of them from several years ago.

As for the Manchester United fans, they held up a special banner seen in the image below to Ferguson in the Stretford End of Old Trafford on Thursday. The gesture clearly touched the Scot, as he took a photo of it from his phone.
Ronaldo’s teammate Scott McTominay, meanwhile, said of his legendary compatriot: “Legend of the game, I’ve got a lot to thank him for so happy birthday to him.”
Manchester United, on the other hand, wished their former manager all the best on social media.
