Holders Portugal faced an early elimination from Euro 2020, with world champions France and heavyweights Germany suffering a similar fate.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, and Manuel Neuer have been trolled over their respective European Championship exits by Hungary head coach Marco Rossi.
Ronaldo’s Portugal progressed past the group stages of Euro 2020 as one of the best third-placed teams. However, their hopes of a successful title defense were destroyed by Belgium, who beat them 1-0 in the Round of 16 tie.
France were widely considered as favorites to go all the way through and lift the trophy owing to the abundance of talent in the team and the depth of their squad. However, they were sent packing by Switzerland, who beat them on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw.
Germany, meanwhile, were kicked out of the tournament by England, who advanced to the quarter-finals following a 2-0 win at Wembley.
Hungary were paired alongside them in Group F. Although they failed to survive the ‘group of death’, the Hungarians put in a good fight as they avoided defeat in two of their three group stage games.
Hungary boss Rossi took to social media to take a tongue-in-cheek swipe at the three European giants, posting a photoshopped image on Instagram showing Ronaldo, Mbappe, and Neuer with suitcases on a beach.
The photo, in which Rossi stood in the background behind the players, was accompanied with the caption: “See you soon at the beach!”
