During an interview with Sky Sports Italia, Brazilian Ronaldo finally addressed the debate about who is better between him and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The debate of who is the better Ronaldo between the Brazilian and Cristiano was something that Jose Mourinho started a few years ago, the Portuguese manager dissed his compatriot by stating that Ronaldo Nazario was the original and better Ronaldo out of the two.

For starters, we have already established that comparing the best players in football history is simply a waste of time, this has happened between Messi and Cristiano for over a decade and it’s gotten really old.

It is thanks to statements like Jose Mourinho’s why these debates tend to get really toxic, really fast, and they tend to hurt the relationships between footballers who are very susceptible to criticism.

Up until this point, there had never been a response to this comparison from either Ronaldo Nazario or Cristiano Ronaldo but we know how the Portuguese player tends to react to criticism.

In reality, both of these players are amongst the Top 10 best footballers of all time but ranking them in a certain spot would be unfair to both.

When we talk about Ronaldo Nazario, this is arguably the first super forward of modern football.

A striker who had the ability to get out of the box and share the ball with all his teammates, he had the explosiveness and creativity to play all over the pitch as an attacking player.

In regards to titles, the Brazilian won several of them both for his clubs and countries but he never won the Champions League. Individually, ‘O Fenomeno’ was one of the two players of the modern era who won two Ballon d’Or trophies alongside Zinedine Zidane.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a very different type of player, one who started his career as a winger and then transformed into one of the most prolific goal scorers of all time.

Contrary to the Brazilian, Cristiano did win the Champions League five times throughout his career and he won five Ballon d’Or trophies.

Napoli president takes a dig at Ronaldo & Juventus

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis seemed to take a dig at Juventus' €112m signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, while discussing the "right recipe" for success.

But in regards to titles with his national team, Ronaldo Nazario tops him because he won two World Cup titles during his career as a player.

At the end of the day, choosing your favorite Ronaldo is a matter of taste and we also wouldn’t blame you if you picked Ronaldinho above any of these two.

For the Brazilian legend, this comparison has always been regarded as a joke more than something serious and he has always preferred to take it with a grain of salt.

It is obvious that he will always pick himself above anybody else, but when asked about the subject he obviously wants to be more diplomatic.

When talking to Sky Sports Italia for a program called “The Masters of Football”, Ronaldo started talking about Messi but the chat quickly switched to this comparison between Rnlandos.

“Messi really excites me as a player, he makes me dream, he makes me have a lot of fun, he is a very special player,” said Ronaldo.

“But Cristiano Ronaldo cannot be forgotten or excluded, he is another special player with a lot of quality and incredible strength of character. Both of them make me dream.”

“I would say that this comparison between us is really a joke that shouldn’t bother anyone of us because when people tell me that, I really can only feel immensely proud of what I’ve achieved throughout my career.”

“I am also sure that he is very proud of everything he’s done throughout his career. Let’s just say that the two of us, are the real Ronaldo.”
