Cristiano Ronaldo picks the greatest goal that he scored, but clarify’s it’s not as good as scoring with Georgina.
In the serialization of his interview with Piers Morgan, via British television network ITV, Morgan asks Ronald about his greatest goal.
For a player that has scored over 700, that would arguably be an arduous task, to narrow it down to one.
Funnily enough, the one that stands out above all others is one he scored against his current team Juventus.
None of us will ever forget, the majestic yet scintillatingly powerful overhead bicycle kick in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Ronaldo, several yards out with his back to goal, launched himself into the air, adjusting and connected a fully extended right foot. He struck the ball perfectly, as it jettisoned into the top left-hand corner of Gianluigi Buffon’s goal.
To score such an amazing goal, in a game of that magnitude, left even the Juventus fans in awe.
It was, in fact, a moment in football, that saw an entire stadium stand and applauded a moment that can only be summed up with one word “genius.”
Ronaldo said of the goal:
“I tried to score this goal for many, many years.”
“I had scored 700-odd goals but I hadn’t done this.”
“I thought, finally I had scored a bicycle, the beautiful jumping.”
“The way I had done against [Gianluigi] Buffon, against Juventus, in the Champions League. It was a beautiful goal.”
It was perhaps the reaction of the crowd that gratified him most, he added:
“When the people start to applaud me in the stadium I was like, WOW!”
“[It] surprised me a lot because this has never happened in my life, so [it] was [an] unbelievable moment.”
The joy and the excitement were clear on Ronaldo’s face for all to see on the night.
But as he reminisced with Morgan of the glorious moment, the interviewer couldn’t help but cheekily ask. If scoring a goal is that great, is it greater than sex?
Ronaldo laughed and smiled, as he replied:
“No, not [when compared] with my Geo, no!”
